Do you like to travel by train? I really do. But sometimes I feel confused using applications for buying tickets and planning my journey. Having a reliable app for planning road trips and train travel can save time, reduce stress, and enhance the overall experience.

Study Project
ABOUT
DB Navigator is an app developed by Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s national railway company. In this case study, I am conducting analysis of the app to identify ways to enhance the user experience. For the analysis, I will use Jakob Nielsen’s Usability Heuristics, 10 general principles for interaction design:
Visibility of System Status
01
Match Between the System and the Real World
02
User Control and Freedom
03
Consistency and Standards
04
Error Prevention
05
Recognition Rather than Recall
06
I will focus on three specific screens of the app to allow for a deeper exploration of the topic.
Flexibility and Efficiency of Use
07
Aesthetic and Minimalist Design
08
Help Users Recognize, Diagnose, and Recover from Errors

Help and Documentation

02. Search Result
03. Mistake
After identifying the problems, I conducted a visual competitor analysis and began generating ideas for the redesign. Getting ideas, I created Mid-Fi prototype, which includes nesessary improvements:

Simplified the search process by integrating the choice between one-way and return trips directly in the search section, eliminating the need for an dropdown menu.
Enhanced search functionality to allow users to prioritize either faster trains or those covered by the German ticket.
Navigation labels are relevant to the content of the pages.
Info section provides access to nesessary client support
Hey, Markus
Personalisation
Redesigned the trip options display to be cleaner, with smart filters enabling direct adjustment of search settings.
Improved error handling by notifying users of incorrect search parameters, with clear instructions on how to correct them for a successful search.
Redesign
Style Tyle
The brand style is clean, professional, and minimalistic. Since the original DB Neo font is restricted to internal company use, I've chosen a similar-looking font as a substitute.
High-Fi
Thank you for attention to my project!
